Root Canal Treatment
Root canal treatment is a way of saving a tooth that may have an abscess or may be fractured, infected or decayed. The purpose is to rebuild the tooth and surrounding tissues to health, relieving both pain an infection.
Without root canal treatment the only other alternative is to have the infected tooth removed, and to replace it with an implant, a fixed bridge or a removable denture. None of those alternatives is anywhere near as effective as being able to actually keep the original tooth.
Root canal treatment often is not only the best treatment option for you as a patient, but it is also a cost effective way to save a tooth with a damaged nerve (pulp).
In the long run it is usually less expensive than extraction and replacement with a bridge or an implant. Root canal treatment has a high success rate, with many root canal treated teeth lasting a lifetime.
